Today's photo: The legendary Steve Dahl. Congrats and cheers to Steve and crew on another #1 book (25-54M). Steve's show also posted a top five performance 25-54A. Hey, nice package. The ratings delivery of programming on before Steve continues to lag far behind Steve's winning performance. The anomaly moves forward unabated...an entire Chicago radio station kept alive, saved in fact, by one show, one star. Amazing. Some earlier posts on Steve here, here and here. Bravos Steve!

Mr. Martin,

I fail to understand how you praise Steve Dahl for "saving" a station when the station is by all acounts failing. Kept alive you write. How is a station at the bottom of the market alive? Why not admit Mr Dahl is doing an excellent job on a losing and failed station? Since you have not given answer to my posts on this I am writing again, excuse any duplication.

Cowgirl,

As comments on this blog are moderated, this morning was the first time I was able to read your four comments of last night. To avoid duplication I have published one of your four comments. Please be aware that because comments are moderated you will not see your comments until they have been approved.

May I suggest you read my earlier comments on Steve. Previously and in this most recent post I have said that Steve is doing an excellent job on an otherwise dead radio station.

Steve is keeping the station alive in the talk format. His delivery of competitive numbers permits the cbs sales team to generate revenue in the very important afternoon drive daypart. The majority of the cume generated on the station comes from Steve's show. Simply put, without Steve there is no radio station.

WCKG may not enjoy competitive ratings outside of Steve's show, however, they do have a significant number of prime avails that can be used by the cbs sales team.

My point is Steve's outstanding performance is buying the programming people the time to fix the rest of the radio station. My sense is the station can, should and will be fixed.
